KaiLab Robot Battery Replacement Guide

When KaiLab is used in the classroom for back-to-back lessons, you may need extra batteries so robots are ready for the next class.

Replacement / spare backup Batteries

You can find replacement 18350 rechargeable batteries on Amazon with this link. We also recommend purchasing a compatible 18350 battery charger so you can keep backup batteries ready for classroom use. Important: Only use batteries that match the original battery specification.

To replace your KaiLab robot battery, follow the steps below.

  1. Ensure your robot is switched off
  2. Remove the top of your KaiLab robot (Yellow lid)

  3. Cut to remove the zip tie holding the battery in place, this does not void your warranty.
    Warning
IMPORTANT: DO NOT damage/cut/open the battery

  4. Remove the battery from the holder (pull up and out)

  5. Clean the battery contact surface with IPA/rubbing alcohol (if replacing, skip this step)
    Warning
IMPORTANT: DO NOT apply solution to battery directly, apply to cotton swap/Q-tips then clean

  6. Install the battery as seen in the photo below (The positive is on the same side as the power switch)

Once installation is complete, switch the robot on and confirm that it is working.
